Senior Trainer - Travis J.
For more than a decade, Travis has been regarded as a leader in the field of accent reduction and in high demand as a speech consultant, dialect coach and lecturer in New York and Los Angeles. Receiving a B.F.A. from N.Y.U., Tisch School of the Arts, he majored in Acting and Speech, and minored in Organizational Psychology, studying "The Method" under the auspices of Geoffrey Horne (
Bridge on the River Kwai; Academy Award Winner) and Alumni Members, (
Yale School of Drama). Following his undergraduate studies, he began his work with the Voice Center of New York, with Dr. William Reilly, while a Master's Degree candidate at the (
New School University, Drama Program, Actors' Studio, MFA) in New York City. Upon completion of his candidacy, Travis was invited to participate in the Edinburgh Festival, U.K., where he worked closely with fellow dialecticians and colleagues of the prestigious, Central School of Speech, London, England.
Travis later worked on various Shakespearean productions for stage and film where he furthered his practical understanding of Phonetics and classic texts. While marking his efforts to improve his repertoire of foreign dialects and speech modification, (he speaks in over a dozen dialects), Travis, founded,
N.Y. Speech Consulting, a
Communications Consultancy, specializing in Cross-Cultural Communication for foreign diplomats and business executives.
During this time, he worked as a United Nations consultant, and helped co-found the AU Method of Accent Reduction, while researching thousands of hours of personal training of numerous foreign and political diplomats. Travis then broadened his development efforts while at ARTA and has since worked with many of today's top talents in Hollywood. He credits his practicum while working under the direction of the today's foremost masters of voice; Maestro, Mark Oswald, (
Metropolitan Opera Young Artists) and Maestro, Vladimir Chernov (
Metropolitan Opera). As a consummate student of the mysteries and exploration of the human voice, he hopes to take something which is seemingly intangible, and make it tangible.
